Cycle across the vast Tibetan Plateau to the North Face of Everest. For the dedicated mountain cyclist there could be few trips to match this high altitude ride across the vast Tibetan Plateau from Lhasa to Kathmandu. We combine this with an exhilarating diversion ‘off the highway’ cycling to over 5000 meters to the Everest Base Camp beneath the towering North Face of Everest.

In Lhasa we acclimatize and explore the Potala Palace and the Jokhang before commencing the cycle expedition. After exploring the historic town of Gyantse we cycle to Shigatse and the famous Tashilhunpo. The Lhasa to Kathmandu ‘highway’ then crosses the vast Tibetan Plateau following a mostly unsealed road over a series of high passes. En route our overnight camps provide an opportunity to visit villages often missed on the overland drive to Lhasa.

At Shegar we divert to the Everest Base Camp. We follow the rough road over the Pang La (5030 meters) before continuing up the Rongphu Valley to capture unsurpassed views of the North Face of Everest. The Everest Base Camp (5150 meters) is as high as we get before returning to the highway and completing the stages down the Sun Kosi Gorge to Nepal and the Kathmandu Valley.

Total Kilometer: 1104 Km ride Including Everest Base Camp.
