mountain-flight-in-nepalEarly morning wake up and you will be picked up at your hotel by our guide and transferred you to the airport where a small Twin Otter turboprop plane will be waiting for you on the runway.

Mountain flight is a much easier way to see the Nepali Himalayan peaks. Most flights are in mornings and operate at all times except in the monsoon seasons of June and July. Air planes fly along the Himalayan range and also beyond for passengers to get a good view of the Himalayan range. All the domestic airlines of Nepal offer various forms of mountain flights.

The flight takes you within camera range of some of the highest peaks in the world, and cruising this close to the awe-inspiring massifs of rock and ice is an out-of-this world experience.

Everest flight: The first stretch

As your Everest flight begins, you'll be pressed back in your seat as the plane lifts off and ascends steeply eastwards into the Himalayas. The first glimpse of the breathtaking views comes when you break through the clouds and see the first peak looming in the distance: the 8013m Gosiathan (Shisha Pangma). You'll be able to see all the peaks along the journey.

To the right is the Dorje Lhakpa (6966m) and next to it the Phurbi Chyachu which rises above the Kathmandu Valley. Slowly edging closer, the smaller (5933m) Choba Bhamare and then the Gaurishanker (7134m) and some other peaks come into sight.

Everest flight: Heading towards Mount Everest

Flying further into the eastern Himalayas, a new range of mountain peaks emerges: Melungtse (7023m) with its flat peak, Chugimago (6297m) and Numbur (6956m) to the left. Then, you will see the world's 6th highest mountain - Cho-Oyu, at the elevation of 8021m.

The last and most spectacular stretch of the Mount Everest flight heads towards Gyachungkang (7952m), Pumori (7161m) and the well-known Nuptse (7855m), the west peak of Mount Everest.

Finally, you'll reach Everest itself. Your Everest flight will take you closer to Everest and its surrounding peaks. They are quite dazzling in the sunshine so perhaps pack your shades and definitely your camera! Everest flight: Return to Kathmandu Airport

As the last peaks disappear from view, the plane descends towards the airport in Kathmandu Valley. You'll be able to chat to the other passengers about everything you saw on your Mount Everest flight and probably how you will never forget the experience. Your close encounter with Mount Everest will be an experience you will definitely never forget.
